Top Soil Delivery

About Our Top Soil

Our top soil is sourced from old farm lands. As these new developments are going in, the builder will move all the topsoil into a pile to build on the bed rock. That pile is then screened like the photo above. Our soil is screened down to 3/8ths inch (the smallest grade for topsoil) and shipped out in dump trucks. At 3/8ths, there is still room for little tiny rocks and occasionally a very small twig. This stuff is all great to put under your sod, you just don’t want anything bulky that will make your lawn bumpy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Top Soil?

Topsoil is typically the first 6–12 inches of ground. When developments are made, the builder will pile up all the topsoil together so that the foundations can be built into the bed rock. That pile of topsoil is then screened down to 3/8ths inch to get rid of larger debris and dirt clods and shipped in dump trucks to your desired location.

Why Do I Need Top Soil?

Topsoil creates nutrients and an ideal place for topsoil to grow. When homes are built, the builder will scrape off all the topsoil to get to the bed rock. You need some organic material to get your grass and plants to grow and with that topsoil gone due to the builder, homeowners need to bring the top soil back in.

Do You Deliver In Dump Trucks or Bags?

We only deliver in dump trucks as of right now. Bags are great when you only need a yard and helps keep things a little less messy. Problem is after the first yard it gets really expensive. Anything 2 yards and over is much better for dump trucks for keeping the price down. We have multiple sized trucks depending on your load size.

Can You Dump Over A Fence?

The short answer is yes, but in most cases it is not ideal. We have what are called slinger trucks. These have a conveyor belt that can shoot material over fences. This includes top soil, fill dirt, sand and more. Everything except sod. While this is great, prices generally double due to the truck and man power being much higher. In most cases, it is most cost-effective to get a normal dump truck and use a skid steer (aka a bobcat) to bring the material to where you need it.

For regular dump trucks, the clearance when dumping is very low and there is no way to dump over a fence.

Can I Pickup?

We are a delivery only company, if you are looking to pickup, there are other companies that are better suited for that. Top soil is surprisingly heavy and unless you have a big truck, generally it is recommended to have your material delivered. Repair bills are way higher that delivery fees.
